Mr. Vasu Chanchlani, an IITian, is a serial entrepreneur, who has successfully exited from six technology ventures. He is also a visionary philanthropist, who has contributed millions of dollars to support creation of research Centers at McMaster University, University of Toronto and Waterloo University. He has also set-up endowments at the Canadian National Institute for Blind and McMaster University for global research award of $25,000 each and at the Canada India Foundation, a Global Indian award of $50,000 that is given annually.
His leadership and serious financial contribution has led initiatives for executing a compelling vision of success in Canada India corridor. His focused philanthropic initiatives revolve around education, research and persuasive India public policy formulation and discourse in Canada. As co-founder of Canada India Foundation and through his endowed India Policy Center at Waterloo, Vasu has been at the forefront of advocacy for Canada’s India centric policy changes.
It was the recognition of his philanthropic work at transformative levels that the Government of India recently bestowed upon him India’s highest diaspora award “Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award” on January 9, 2014 at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi by His Excellency Pranab Mukherjee, President of India.
Vasu is recipient of Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA), 2011-12 IIT Kanpur.
